The world has lost a titan on the piano stool with the passing of the legendary jazz pianist and composer McCoy Tyner, who became well know as member of the John Coltrane Quartet, but also had a and a long and distinguished solo career afterwards.
Live in London at the Barbican (feat. Bobby Hutcherson) 2002
I only saw him live once with his fantastic Big Band at the Berliner Jazz Tage in 1990
and what a great concert this was you can hear in this clip:
One of his best live recordings of a track from"Sahara"
one of his best albums in my humble view.
He had also a "Latin" phase: Here with the All Stars in 1998
Thanks for your sugesstions, Christos!
Go listening to the many great recordings of this giant, there has been hardly any dud record in his long career!
